My 18.5 year old Wooby's struggle with renal failure was ended last night
and I have various pet medications that I hate to just throw away if someone
could use them. Is there any clearing house or a way of sharing pet meds
with people who have valid prescriptions for the same things but might not
be able to afford them? I'm not interested in selling them but I don't want
to get in trouble or cause anyone else pain by giving meds they have no
business administering to their pets.
Here are some of the things I have:
About 15 half-pills of Benazapril -- the maintenance drug that manages the
condition
One almost-complete bag of lactated ringers with pic-line
One almost-complete bag of lactated ringers with ritadine mixed in, with
pic-line
Some needles for administering fluids
Last part of bag of Hill's Prescriptives K/D feline dry food
Four syringes of procrit (0.15ml S.Q.) -- this is for increasing red blood
cells in an anemic cat (it was a nasty drug for her so she only every used
one)
Slightly used container of epakitin -- powder nutritional supplement that is
added to food to bind phosphorous and remove it from blood stream
Thanks for the input,

Lynn I am sorry for your loss. Do you have a local rescue group if so
take the stuff to them I am sure they have foster people that could use
them. Your vet could also use them for people who can't afford everything
like human doctors giving samples; and he or she could make sure who needs
them
Ps if you ship them I could be a crime depending on your area
Again I am sorry for your loss
IF TEARS COULD BUILD A STAIRWAY
If tears could build a stairway.
and memories a lane.
I would walk right up to Heaven
and bring you back again.
No farewell words were spoken
No time to say "Goodbye."
You were gone before I knew it.
and only Gods knows why.
My heart still aches with sadness.
and secret tears still flow.
What it meant to love you-
No one can ever know.
But now I know you want me
to mourn for you no more:
To remember all the happy times.
life still has much in store
Since you'll never be forgotten.
I pledge to you today-
A hollowed place within my heart.
is where you will always stay.

I am sorry to hear about the loss of your cat. When my cat passed away, I
had some left over bags of fluids, lines, needles. I donated them to my
vet's office asking that they be given to someone who couldn't afford meds.
You may want to check with your vet.
