My cat has developed a taste for cheese he will steal it if he can but
will know immediately when it is placed on the table, and will cry for
some.

Do you think I should stop him ?  He actually gets very little but I
know that they are not supposed to drink milk so possibly this may
apply to cheese.

The small amount of cheese and/or milk that cats usually eat won't hurt
them......They are not going to live forever any more than you will. Let
them enjoy a tidbit now and then.....I feed my B-K a small bowl of milk once
a week or so.....He likes me to pay the special attention to him that
bringing it entails. He really doesn't care that much for it, and usually
only drinks about half of what I bring. But he knows that it is a special
thing that I do just for him, and that makes all the difference....

We've got a diabetic cat, Brundle, at our rescue shelter. He loves cheese
and cake and will help you eat your sandwiches :-)

My Missy is rather partial to Red Leicester..!

Milk and dairy products are fine for cats in moderation. Some cats are
lactose intolerant and it can cause diarrhea

My little Moshi just loved soft ice cream.  Milkshakes were one of her
favorites.  The last thing she got to eat on this earth was a milkshake and
I was happy knowing she went out with her last meal being her favorite.  So
make it special.

Yes....B-K likes them too....He got lots of them while living in the Burger
King parking lot.....He also knows how to eat them without spilling them
over....He sticks his paw down in the cup, and then licks the milkshake off
of it.....Most cats would knock it over and then lap up what they could
before it soaks into the ground.......It is one of the few people foods he
will still eat. Otherwise, he is strictly a kibbles cat.......

My cats and the strays I feed love milk and cheese. And Hobbes runs to me
whenever he hears me dipping ice cream!

My one cat is mad for ice cream and she can smell it from far away.

Just a note to people who might not know:
Never feed kitty chocolate ice cream...chocolate is poisonous to cats
the
same way it is to dogs. The smallest amount can kill them.

PSA aside; my Big Mama won't eat ice cream, but I did find out
recently
that she likes Blue Cheese...just a couple little bites though.

I didn't think she would like such a pungent cheese, but she did.

Whenever I eat anything, and she comes around staring at me,
I always offer her a bit on my finger to put her curiosity to rest.
9 times out of 10, she don't want any.
1 time out of 10, she'll have a little bite or two, or even three,
then be
done with it.

I think wheat bread is about her favorite people food.

Well, that's a bit of an overstatement....Here is an article that states the
case a little more realistically......

Yes, I knew at the time I wrote it that it was "realistically" an
overstatement on my part.
But chocolate should not be an offering to cats or dogs under any
circumstances
...although it is not unheard of death or severe sickness actually
occuring.
Chocolate is still a known poison to them under any circumstances,
and people should not feed their dog or
cat poison, as the results *could* be fatal.

Yes. It is more a matter of whether the animal is allergic to it or not....A
small amount of chocolate could also be fatal to human beings if they are
allergic enough. None of my cats are allergic to chocolate, but then, they
don't particularly like it either, although BK will eat chocolate milk shake
if he is hungry. He learned to do that in the Burger King parking lot where
he used to live.....Now, when I make a milk shake, I feed him a little of
the vanilla ice cream that I use before I add the chocolate......

Good story.

I'm a vegan so I don't eat dairy products. But I do like soy cheese and so
does Isis! I give her little bits occasionally and she has a good time. She
also likes bits of the veggie patties you get at Subway.
