Yep, lots of good info there...
As far as shedding goes; I have to comb Mama twice a day,
once in the morning and once at night.
It's that time of year again...this is pretty much a summer routine.
If I didn't do it, chances are she would get hairballs, and maybe
not even live as long because of it.
I've seriously thought about putting a number 3 in my electric
clippers
and shaving her, but I doubt I will, so I brush brush brush.
Another article at the Web site examines grass eating.
http://www.cozycatfurniture.com/cat_newsletters/puttingcatoutofpasture.html
I grow Mama her own oat grass, she loves it, and grazes like a cow on
it
probably 10+ times a day.
She is about 14 years old and still very healthy, so I highly
recommend
oat grass for kitties well being.
You can find bulk oat grass seed for about $3.
in a 4oz. packet.
A small to meduim size flower pot will work nicely to grow
a new crop of grass every 6 weeks if you keep it watered.
The 4oz. packet has lasted me going on 3 years, and I probably
won't have to buy another until the 5th year.
There are few things you can buy for such a low price that will go
so far in benefiting kitty's well being.
The health benefit and preventitive measures to price ratio
is excellent....A+++, 10, 5 stars, 2 thumbs up.
And kitty will thank you for it.

Ever hear of "Meow Mix: Hairball Control Formula" cat food? This is
what I feed Princess and she simply loves it and has no problem with
her hairballs (yet).

A very good article. I have a long haired cat, with very fine hair, that
doesn't shed at all. (that I can detect) Another of my cats has short thick
hair, and she sheds all the time, but each hair is only about one inch long
and very thick and noticeable, so it is easy to vacuum up..... But I brush
all of my cats, and they all seem to enjoy it. Even the feral cat enjoys
being brushed, until he hisses and tries to bite me.....:^)

Why would he hiss at you and try and bite you when you brush him?

Good question....He obviously enjoys it, because he rolls around on his back
and pushes toward the brush....He will even go over and lie down on the
brush if you stop too soon.....
He hisses and bites/scratches half the time anyway....He had been wild
for several years before I began to befriend him, so it is just his nature
to distrust human beings.....I have to treat him as I would any wild
animal.....but that is part of the reason why I like him.
