I have one ten pound 11 year old spayed female
cat and two large litter boxes.  How often should these
be changed to make sure the cat will use them?

I am using clumpable litter.

I have 2 boys, one is 9 lbs. and the other is prob around 13 and one litter
box. I scoop their box in the morning before I go to work, again when I come
home from work and then again before I go to sleep (I may be a bit excessive
with the scooping.)  I never really "change" the litter per say being that I
am constantly scooping and adding new litter to the box.  Unless your kitty
is sick in some way, she should continue to use the litter box until it is
pretty gross but please don't ever let it get like that.

I have 2 large litter boxes with 27 pounds of scoopable hard clumping litter
each and 3 cats. I usually  scoop everyday and dump it either once a month
or every two months depends on weather it is summer or winter when they
drink more water. My cats are completely indoor cats but they sit in a
window and sun throughout the day.
