Check out the news, everyone.  The culprit has finally been identified.
Wheat from China with rat poison in it.  Tragic.  At least we know now.

I see that Barnabas Collins (love that name) has already posted the
link.  Thanks, BC.

I'm still looking for an explanation of how rat poison "accidnetly"
gets into the ingredients of pet food and more to the point how they
are going to prevent this in the future.

I would say they need to implement a better quality control program.

Maybe have their execs eat a can from every batch and if they live
ship it!!   ;-)

There's a lot to be said for that....Bus drivers don't sit on the sidelines
and drive the bus by remote control....If they screw up, they get to crash
and burn along with the passengers. The same thing should be true of a food
factory....If the owners had to eat the output, then the quality control
would be the best you can get.......

Maybe the place where the wheat gluten is manufactured has a problem with
rats. So, someone put rat poison somewhere it shouldn't have been and the
stuff mixed up with the wheat. I don't know what wheat gluten is or how it
is made.

I do know that food processing plants should be completely rat free.
Obviously it wasn't.

Here's the story on wheat gluten.

Bear in mind you can have a restaurant that is impeccably
clean, but still has a rat problem to the construction
a 1/4 mile away.
