The cat here is about 11 years old.  The cat used
to be with another cat about the same age but
for the last 3-4 months, it has been staying by
itself.  This is a female spayed cat that is somewhat
overweight, but built very stocky for a cat.

Recently the cat is apparently not cleaning her
butt, and she gives off a very pungent urine odor.
This seems very odd for a cat.  Anyway should
this cat be going straight off to the vet?  Any other
ideas?

The cat really hates the vet.

Vet vet vet.  She could have a urinary tract infection--I'm going through
that with one of my cats right now.

It sounds as though her anal glands may need to be expressed.

Time to take her to the vet despite the fact she hates going.

In the "end" (pardon the pun) a trip to the vet will most likely result in a
solution.

None of my cats love going to the vets either, but mama (me) is the boss and
they go whether they like it or not ;)
Hobbes had anal gland problem and had to be cleaned out. I wont tell you
what he did, dont want to ruin the fun ;)
