Does anyone else out there have a hypothyroid cat or kitten (low
thyroid...very rare in cats).  My cat was diagnosed when just a few
weeks old, and nearly he died several times before a vet figured it
out.  He takes thyroxin each day, and seems very healthy, but I worry
there might be other things to look out for. Everything associated
with the original condition is gone...constipation, lethargy, low body
temp.  He's a big normal healthy cat now.  Anyone else out there
caring for a hypothyroid kitten?

No, not a hypothyroid kitten, but I used to have an older (female) cat with
some form of thyroidism.  She used to take pills each day called
Neo-mercazole.  As well as the thyroidism, she also had a long-term heart
murmur.  Nevertheless, she lived to be 19.5 years old.  I  hope this eases
your mind a little, but do continue to learn as much as you can about her
condition and prognosis.

Lots of luck to you both.
