The Ragdoll is a breed of medium longhaired cat. It is best known for
its docile and placid temperament and affectionate nature. It is
perhaps the gentlest and most easy-going of breeds. They are
non-aggressive to the point that many cats cannot or should not be let
outside for prolonged periods as many will not defend themselves and
most do not hunt. The name "Ragdoll" derived from the fact that many of
these cats go completely limp and relax when picked up. Ragdolls have a
sturdy body, short legs, and a thick coat with Siamese-style points.
As a Ragdoll owner I wanted to learn more. So I spoke to breeders,
veterinarians, groomers, and most importantly other Ragdoll cat owners
about the best ways to keep my Ragdoll well-behaved and happy. I took
vigorous notes and compiled months of my own research. I pooled all the
knowledge and tested the information I have gathered with the biggest
critic and skeptic I know.

I've only had 1 Ragdoll out of the 10 cats I've owned over my life
time.
But the Ragdoll was the friendlist and smartest of them all IMHO.
She even got along well with other animals and cats.

Not a cat you should let out of your sight for too long, as they will
be
stolen by someone because of their friendy nature and beauty.

People were so enamoured by 'Girl', they offered me money for her,
and they already had a cat!

My current Big Mama is a domestic that has some of the qualities
Girl had (in that she's a mid-long haired beauty), but she has a mean
streak and will nip if she's over stimulated by petting.....or if you
don't
pay any attention to her.
You just can't win with her.
But she's mine, she's spoiled, and people do seem to like her despite
her occasional mean streak.

BTW, I'm not sure, but is there a sub-breed of Ragdoll?
The one I had was called a Chocolate-Mitted Ragdoll.

It's not a great pic, but you can see a pic of Girl here:

If you click on Next 3 times, you should see a pic of Bouncy.
He's my neighbors cat, he doesn't eat or fuss...in some respects,
he's the perfect cat.

The other dark grey cat is my current Big Mama.
