My 3 year old male cat has been acting strange the last couple days, he is
leaving little spots of urine in weird places, and he always uses the litter
box.  He has been licking himself quite frequently and seems to be straining
to urinate.

Is there anything I can give him to help him out?

Yes a VET visit  there is no over the counter remedy for this.

And it might not be a stone more in likely it is a UTI or urinary tract
infection.  Neither will go away by themselves.  IF it is a stone and gets
lodged the situation can turn dire quickly from being blocked.  Both can
require antibiotics to help the situation out and a definite change in diet
the vet will tell you after blood work

Matthew is right. Please take your cat to a vet as soon as possible.  Three
years seems quite young for this kind of complaint; my ex male cat had it
aged 20 yrs, so your cat has youth and strength on its side.   Vetinary
treatment is *essential* though, and delay can only make the matter worse.
Cats are very clean and private animals normally, and your cat would not be
trying to wee (with difficulty) around the house if he were not trying to
tell you that he is in pain and distress.

Good luck to you both at the vet.

Your cat needs to see a vet, and it should be ASAP.  It is possible he has
UTI.  If so, it can probably be easily treated it you see the vet *at once.*
However, a delay can be fatal (literally!).  UTI can progress rapidly from
minor to severe to deadly.  My first cat developed UTI at the age of 9 or 10
*months,* so don't delay simply because you think your cat is "too young."

My cat currently has a bladder stone. There are two types: Struvite
which can be dissolved with diet or the other kind (don't remember the
word) that has to be removed with surgery. Stones are created by too
many crystals in the urine. The crystals gather together and create the
stone. If the stone gets too big that it ends up blocking the cat's
ability to pee, your cat will die. So this needs to be treated right
away.

Take a look at the ingredients in the treats and food you give him. I
believe strongly that is what caused it in my cat.

Geez, consider your cat lucky, for being able to lick himself!!

Thanks for all your advice.  I called my vet and they had me bring him right
in.  It turned out to only be an inflamation of the bladder, but still
related to a UTI, so they have him on medication and a special diet now.
Luckily it was nothing.
