Hello to all.
I'm hoping someone here can offer me some reasonable advice on a problem
I've had for several months.
The place I live has no garage, so I must keep my car parked outside all
the time. Since I do my best to take very good care of the car, I bought
a good all-weather cover for it.
Lately I've noticed small "pill" marks in it, and conclude from the
locations they are from cat claws.
We have at least a few strays that hang out on our property, and I've
even seen one of them on my car a few times.
I've tried various remedies....mothballs, spraying the cover with stuff
that's supposed to repel cats...even spraying them with a water gun when
I catch them nearby. Nothing is working.
Does anyone here have some suggestions I might try? I'm at my wits end,
and don't want to resort to more serious tactics.
Thank you in advance.
BTW, I live in a condo complex, and apparently the SPCA cannot come out
for this. Seems related to it being on private property.

Hiya Randy.
Alright, i dont know what will stop this problem, because ALL cats claw
stuff as long as they are allowed too. if it was your cat, and you kept them
in the house, you could just punish it. but since you dont, and its just a
stray, i dont know what to tell you. My 4 cats sleep on top of the car when
they stay outside. i will go out therein the morning and have to push one
off so i can leave. and driving down the road you will see little
paw-prints. i've never used a car cover, costs too much, and i knew the cats
would claw it... its never bothered me having them on my car... so i dono.
try like leaving the strays a treat, like a toy or canned cat food. Maybe
you could bring the stray into your house?

You might not like my recommendation.. but find a nice big dog to come and
pee on it...
the odor will linger and should keep the kitties away.

Dead Easy! remove the car cover, sounds silly but car covers outside are not
a very good idea, within a few months the elements & wind will degrade the
paintwork & it will become dull, this is caused by the material just lying
in contact with the bodywork, moisture is trapped between the cover & the
car & helps degrade the paint & causes a condensation trap, leading to rust,
best bet just use a good wax on the car every few months, this will help
protect the paint from uv & rain,
Steve.
