Hi there

I'm new to this group.
I had two cats now I have one. I recently had to put my cat Marie to sleep,
it was one of the most heartbreaking experience I've ever had to deal with
in my life. I'd had Marie for 11 years. I took her to the vet and he said
that she had a heart condition. Plus she had been scratching herself so
badly that she had open wounds. It was killing me to see her in such bad
shape.
I used to nick name her babyshoes and she knew her name very well. I still
miss her to this day and still cry about her, even though I know she was
suffering.

Oh, Melissa, I'm sorry.  Welcome to the group, and know that just about
everybody here understand from personal experience what you went through
and how you miss her.

Been there and done that in 1999 when my Fugazi had to cross the Bridge
due to cancer aged just 12

Even now I think of it and my eyes stream with tears- she was so young
to be taken so suddenly and cruelly and I still wonder if I made the
right decision even through I know in my heart it was waht had to be
done...

But them I remember what she and her sister Isis (RB in her sleep aged
16) and Speedy Joe before them taught us- cats are lovely, strange
wonderful creatures and to refuse another furball in need of a loving
home would be so disrespectful of their memory,,,

And whilst I still shed tears for Fugazi I can look round at Sarrasine
and Redunzel (Well I could but Redunzel's off somewhere) and say "This
is the finest tribute I can pay Fugazi and the others- that despite the
heartbreak and tears I was so priveledged to have known them that I
want to know more of them"

You are so right, Lesley.  And please don't second-guess your decision
for Fugazi, who wasn't going to get well in this life.  Cats teach us
many things, don't they?

Been there many times...
but it's not how long they live that's all important, it's how they
live that
makes all the difference.

And your kitty had a good life.
How do I know?
Because you cared enough to make it known to complete strangers how
much Marie meant to you.
Marie and Melissa made a difference to each other.
