Hi just looking for some recommendations for cat insurance I have 2
cats and want to insure both of them. I think I am going to go for this
http://tinyurl.com/ymzhxm by directline, my neighbours have it for
their cats and they have had no problems when they had to claim for
vets bills in the past?

I use Petplan (www.petplan.co.uk) they are the company used by Cats
Protection and will insure older cats (if adopted from CP), whereas most
will not look at any cat over 8.

I'm not a believer in pet insurance.   Better to take the mony,
put it into a high earning mutual fund or other vehicle
and self insure.

As the old saying goes, insurance companies don't make money
paying claims they make money not paying claims.

Also take a good hard look insurers perpatrated in the wake
of Kartina.

Insurance is legallize fraud.

If you've got the money to start with. Also, you may need to make a claim
soon after taking out a policy, what will you do if you've only got 2 or 3
month's worth of money in your account..? Also many of these high interest
accounts penalise heavily for withdrawals without 90 days notice or
whatever. You aren't going to be able to predict 3 months in advance when
you'll need the money, are you..?

Not relevant to cats, please don't jump on the political bandwagon.

Sometimes, sometimes not. When our house caught fire about 15 years ago we
most certainly wouldn't have been able to afford the repairs without
insurance.

Also what will you do when they cancel the policy after the first
claim?  I've had homeowners insurance cancelled becaaue I dared to
make a claim.

One claim was all it took to get a cancellation.  No matter how
well you paid.

See the above about claims.

You've never had insurance have you?  I had to make a claim under my
homeowners insurance.   Sure as clockwork they cancelled the policy
shortly after.

And if my house had caught fire after the claim and subsequent
cancellation i'd have been up sh.ts creek.   What part of they don't
want you to make claims do you not comprhend?

Let me guess....you've never had insurance on your own have you?
In this case your parents had the insurance?

I bought a policy for Woodgie- with a rider on it for regular health
exams. I've submitted two forms, but haven't received any payback
yet...The initial kitten expenses are supposed to be covered. I'll let
y'all know if I get anything ...
