I took my feline companion of 15 years to the vet yestersay morning to
be sent on her never-ending journey.  She had fought a strong battle
against kidney disease for 3 years.

I do know that I want to get another cat.....when I feel the time is
right.  My question is this....all sentimental reasons aside....should
I get a new littler box, and food and water bowls ?  Or should they be
ok as long as they are throughly cleaned ?

Thanks

Absolutely no reason why they can't be used again as long as they're cleaned
properly.

I'm bringing home two new kittens tomorrow after being catless over the
summer. I had to put down two geriatric cats in the last 9 months or
so. I threw away the litter boxes, I just figure it's better to get a
fresh start, especially since they're plastic. The bowls go thru the
dishwasher so I have no qualms about using them again, plus since one
is engraved with my old cat's name, it's a nice reminder.

I bought one of those Omega roll-over self cleaning boxes, and am
trying to decide whether to return it before I bring home the kitties.
It's a clever idea, but the actual litter area seems pretty small.

My condolences on your loss of your feline companion, Gizmo. She is now w/o
pain, but I am sure it wasnt an easy decision on your part.

Yes...I did find that the hardest part was making the decision...not
the actual act itself.  Poor little thing was so weak that she didn't
actually need the final shot....the sedation that they gave her first
was enough to send her on her journey.

Thanks to everyone here for your support :)

My condolences. I am sure that your nice cat is grateful for all you have
done and she is looking after you from her corner of heaven.  According to
an Hindou legend, when we dye, the souls of the animals we love take our
soul to heaven. So you will see your nice cat again.
