Hi, I have a 16 y/o cat that is starting to get kidney insufficiency
and I was wondering if anyone knew of a herbal supplement I might be
able to give her to help prolong her beautiful life. She got weighed
yesterday and she's at 6.25 lbs. Any help would be greatly
appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Just wanted to clear something up regarding my post. I know all about
the LRS and K/D diet (use to be a Vet Tech) but was curious about other
options since she's just now starting to fail.
Thanks

> Thanks in advance. Dear MzKittin Iam sorry to have to tell you this but there is no cure for Kidney Faliure. How I know My cat Miss Muffet was Diganosed with Kideny Failure at Forteen. Iam so sorry. I wish there was a Cure. But there is not. What you Can do is stay by her side Until She Dies. and love her as Much as you can. She will become cold and She will have no balance. Iam so sorry. But she is Sixteen. and You love your cat. Like I loved Miss muffet. I wish there was a cure. But there isn't . I know You don't like to hear this. I ddin't ethier. When the Vet Said That Miss Muffet has Kidney Faliure. But You know Where you and your cat can go After Your cat goes to Heaven There is a place Called Rainbow Bridge. Where You can remmber your Fur Baby they have Grief Support and Lots of Other pepople are in The same shoes. Iam So sorry I know it hurts. But the memories you will Cherish for Ever. God Bless you . A cat can live a long time with kidney insufficiency. Nobody lives forever,
but my Molly lived a good quality of life for several years after she was
diagnosed. Our biggest battle was keeping her weight up. She gradually lost
weight over a period of several years. The best thing you can do for your
cat, IMHO, is to ensure that she eats. At this point, getting your cat to
eat as much as possible takes priority over ensuring that it's food for
cats. You can always supplement your cat with feline vitamins. For the last
year of her life, Molly got canned human tuna along with a feline vitamin
supplement. I also gave her beef or chicken when I was preparing it for the
family. (No garlic or onion powder which can be very dangerous for a cat). I
also gave her deli meats. Some cats like baby food. I found with Molly that
her tastes did change, so you may want to keep trying new things. I also
hand fed her when necessary. But the key to prolonging your cat's life IMHO
is keeping her weight up as much as possible.
Good luck.
