Are we talking about bunnies or cats?  I assume cats since this is a
cat group but I could be wrong.

Put up poster in both your new *and* old neighborhoods.  Cats have been
known to travel considerable distances to get their former homes.  Check all
around both neighborhoods -- go door-to-door and leave your name and
telephone number.  Ask people to check their garages and storage sheds.

First, though, check *very* carefully in areas close to your house.  Cats
will often "hole up" very close to the home, and they can be remarkably
difficult to find.  That can be particularly true of a cat that is
unfamiliar with the area and may be frightened.  Put out a container of very
"odorous" food (such as sardines or tuna).  If it is safe, leave your door
slightly ajar and put some food right inside the door (but first put your
other pets in a secure part of the house).  Also, please consider keeping
your cats indoors *at all times* from now on.  If you supply food, toys,
scratching post, and climbing surfaces (such as a cat tree), your cats will
be happy and they will probably be safer and healthier.

Offer a reward.

I feel your pain - less than a week after introducing one of our cats into
our home, it bolted out the door and ran away - for FIFTEEN DAYS!

I couldn't find the guy anywhere - we had signs and everything - however one
of the neighbors heard a whining coming from their garage.  my guy had been
locked in there without food for at least 5 days.  I'd walk around open
window wells, garages and call for him or her and listen for any whining.
you never know.  we got very lucky.

I wish you the best of luck.  and of course leave food and water outside your
door. - we actually went to home depot and bought a motion light that we set
right next to the food - it was designed to lturn on a light IN THE HOUSE so
we knew there was something by the bowl - but didn't freak out the animal
such that that he/she would quickly run away when the light went on. - it
worked - unfortunately it was one of the neighbor's cats that set it off
every night.
