Cats follow me

I have 2 cats, a tomcat 1 year old and female cat 2 years old.  When I am at
home they follow me everywhere, the Tom (Diego) gets under my feet.  If they
are sleeping it is guaranteed that if I go outside to sit in the garden they
will wake up and then come outside sometimes just to sleep.  If I go out the
front they will come out there, they will not leave the vicinity of my
building but if I go across to a neibours they will sit and wait for me.
The female cat (Lou Lou) will cry out for me to come back and sometimes will
come over crying.  If I go to the persons flat (apartment) above me they
somehow find out I am there and will wait outside for me.  My question is
how even when they are asleep can they find out straight away where I am, is
it through scent or what ?

Probably, yes. Think yourself extremely fortunate that you are loved by
your cats :-)

Isis knows where I am every second of the day. She scrutinizes my every
move. She can tell you what room I'm in, how long I've been there, and what
I'm doing. It took a while to get used to the Big Brotherism of it all.

I have 4 and go through the same thing.  I live by myself with them
and they can all be sleeping but even if I get up to use the john next
thing I know they are there.  As long as they can see me they are fine
but if not look out.

The only time they let me out of their sight is when I retire for
night and then they follow me into bedroom and once I settle down for
night they all go find their spot for the night after they get their
playing in (Which is another whole story!!).  But if I get up through
night to use the john who is therebut THEM.

It does get to be a pain at times BUT if they do not show up then I am
checking on them !!  GO FIGURE !!

They're beautiful! I have allergies now, but was never far from a kitty
while growing up and up until about 3 years ago (I'm 54 now). I developed an
immune disease and now cannot be around kitties. I have a rabbit fur stuffed
kitty that looks real, but I know she's not. I miss my kitties so much!
Thanks for letting me share yours for a little while. :-P

I am supposed to have an allergy to cat dander...but I have the cats any

What kind of immune disease do you have? Just curious...

It's called Sjogren's Syndrome. My immune system is destroying all my
moisture producing glands (dry mouth, dry eyes, dry skin, dry...). It also
produces inflammatory arthritis - joy, joy. I don't even get to cuddle with
kitty kats. Sigh.

You have "Watch Cats".  It is their JOB to watch over you.  Aren't you
lucky?   MLB

People talk about watch dogs but my furbabies realy are "Watch Cats".

I live in apartment and they can sense whenever someone is in the hall
before I do, if I do.  Their heads turn, their ears perk up and they
are ready to go into hiding.  They have never been wrong yet.

They really are "Watch Cats"

My "Watch Cat" sits at my feet underneath the kitchen sink when I'm doing
dishes. When I have a shower and finish pulling the shower curtain back,
she's sitting right there beside the bathtub watching me. If I'm moving
around the apartment a lot, she climbs up four pieces of furniture and sits
on top of the highest bookshelf so she can watch me. The second I go into a
another room, she comes jumping down to see what I'm doing in that other
room.

When friends come over and they use the washroom, I have to grab her
otherwise she'd follow them into the bathroom and it freaks them out to have
a cat watching them when they're doing what they need to do. I had some
buddies over for a card game and one buddy let the cat in the bathroom when
he had to go, but then called me to come get my cat because he couldn't go
with the cat watching him. The rest of us laughed for about 30 minutes, but
not one of them were willing to let the cat in the washroom after that.

When I pull in the driveway, Big Mama runs down the stairs and into the
yard to greet me.
She must recognise either the engine sound or the color or outline of
the vehicle, because there are at least 10 other cars in the parking
lot and mine is the only one she does that with.
Where ever I go walking on the property (35 acres), she'll follow me.
Just like a dog would.
I gave her the nickname "Puppycat".

BTW: Big Mama hates cars and won't go anywhere within 50' of any car
that has it's engine running.
