One of our cats is keeping one of her eyes closed... dunno how long
she's been doing that.  I'll have to tell my parents when they get how
and see if maybe they want to take her to the vet.

By weird coincidence, one of our dogs was been taking cream for a
problem with one of HER eyes, the vet said in her case it was
something age related, and not contagious, but still... weird
coincidence, huh?

Hopefully it's nothing too bad...

She's probably just doing it to spook you out. I bet she opens it when your
back is turned. The only solution is to have her put down, I'm afraid.

It's simply a question of trying to remember when you last saw your cat with
both eyes open, and then do an easy calculation. It's not rocket science,
for God's sake.

Good thinking. When they "get how" they should *immediately* see the vet,
and have the little bastard put out of its monocular misery. It's for the
best.

The dog as well? f.ck. Have you entertained the possibility that they might
be becoming pirates? You know, they're trying to say they want to be fitted
with eye-patches. Give it a try. You could even attach stuffed parrots on
their shoulders and train them to say "Pieces of Eight" and "Ha-Haaaar".

Just don't let them get their paws on cutlasses, or muskets.

Why aren't you checking her eye out first?
Take some responsibility and initative in your cats health and well
being.
Could be she just has a whisker or something like that in her eye you
can wipe out yourself.
My Big Mama had one eye almost shut the beginning of the spring.
It was from all the pollen floating around, and one eye got too
irritated and it teared up
so she couldn't see out of that eye to well.
So I would just wipe her eye softly a couple times a day with a damp
towel.....
and in a week she was all better.

Actually, I did.. had a bit of red tissue blocking parts of it, like
muscle, (figure it was part of the eye muscle.

Crazily enough though, I checked on her again about twenty minutes
later and she had both eyes open.

cats is like that honey, clever little sods, probably copying the pooch
because of the extra attention they are getting.

A cat from across the road came to my place and several others pretending to
be stray she even stayed a night in my place and was sat on my lap watching
the TV.  Back then I knew very little about cats but this one had lived in
the road for 20 years apparently.
