Hello Everyone!
I'm usually a lurker, but I just had to tell you all this story.
My daughter works days in a small convenience store.
Last week, a woman came into the store to buy cigs & a pop.
She had a cardboard box, wrapped shut in duct tape.
This person asked my child if she could throw it in their dumpster.
My daughter said yes, but then saw the box move.
She asked what was in the box & this *itch told her it was JUST a cat.
My daughter took the box from her. She was so shocked,
she didn't think to get any info, as the lady quickly drove away.
(But that terrible lady knows what she did...Animal abuse is a crime...
I think it is a felony in our state...Regardless, Karma will get her!)
Anyway, my daughter ripped open the box & found a beautiful, white,
longhaired, very pregnant cat. After work, she took 'Big Mama' to the vet.
She has ear-mites, but otherwise she is healthy
and expecting at least 3 kittens within 3 weeks.
Big Mama is the nicest, most gentle cat ever. She smiles. Really! She does.
She sits on our laps or lays on our chests & purrs.
We know, she knows, she was saved from a horrible death.
My daughter has three young children.
Big Mama acts like she's always known them and fits right in...
Like she's always lived with them. She uses the catbox & eats normally.
My daughter plans on keeping her. Of course she will be spayed.
We already have responsible homes lined up for the new arrivals.
How can someone do this? We have a no kill shelter in our area.
We know it happens all the time...Some times the outlook is more grim.
I have 3 cats, all rescued. All are spayed & neutered. All are loved.
It breaks my heart to know that Big Mama and her kittens
were being treated like trash...I'm glad my daughter was working that morning.
Thank you for reading my story,

Your daughter did ' the right thing' That speaks volumes for her &
you. If more people had compassion for animals, maybe there would not be
as much crime & meanest in the world. Big Mama will reward you with love
& friendship .

I sometimes wish we could treat the people who do these things the way they
treat the animals. I'm so glad Big Mama found a loving home!

Cats seem to have "guardian Angels too". MLB

I don't understand people like that either. Growing up all we had were
shelter cats, because my mother firmly believed in that. They were
always the most loving, affectionate cats that a person could ask for.
Now that I live on my own, I have my own baby, Marziale. One day a
woman went out to go to work and noticed that a garbage bag that had
appeared at the end of her driveway overnight was moving. Opening the
bag she discovered a mother and three cats. All four cats survived, one
of the kittens being my baby. How can someone do it? I don't know...
but Marziale sure knows that she has a loving home now. She's 'just a
little' spoiled ;)

Hello again!
It's been a month since Big Mama came into our lives.
She did give birth to 4 tiny gray & black kittens,
but sadly, they all died within a few days.
The vet had no real explanation...
Maybe she was too young or inexperienced?
More likely it was a combination
of her previous abusive living environment
and lack of pre-natal care.
Here is the rest of this amazing story.
A few weeks ago, one of my daughter's friends
was needing a home for her last 2 kittens.
They were 1 boy & 1 girl...8 weeks old...Adorable...
Both white, with a tiny gray spot
on the top of their heads. (Exactly like Big Mama's!)
She didn't want to split them up.
My daughter was torn with indecision...She wanted to take them,
but knowing that Big Mama had just lost her litter,
she wasn't sure what to do? They both came home with her :)
Anyway, Big Mama wasn't sure what to do either.
She mostly sat there quietly & observed them playing.
We didn't think she knew how to play.
I'm sure she was wondering, 'who are these and what are they doing?'
They were not at all afraid of her...She looks just like their mother.
Last week, we caught her playing tag with them.
Later on, to our surprise, little male tried to nurse.
(Big Mama was probably not completely dried up)
She let him...The next morning, young female was also nursing.
Today, Big Mama is cleaning them...Caring for them as her own.
They all sleep together in a big white furry ball...
Just like it was all meant to be...A perfect little cat family.
Thank you for letting me share this wonderful story.
Well, back to lurking,
