Instead of buying chicken can cat food I just give a piece of my chicken dinner. Someone said chicken bones shouldn't be given to cats. I thought cats can handle chicken bones. What I won't do again is giving cat a big piece of chicken fat. Once I gave a kitten a piece which he gulped down. Later that night he threw up that fat. I prefer dark meat but if I get a whole chicken which parts should I give cat? This is ok as occasional treat but it is lacking in nutrients and cannot be her complete food. If you avoid commercial food, you have to learn how to make your own with complete balanced nutrition. I don't think it is rocket science but you do have to learn and take the trouble. Cooked bones can cause intestinal perforation, and are not cat food. I regularly share a BBQ chicken with my cat, and this is the only food that he has to stop himself purring in order to swallow. But only small amounts of cooked fat should be given if at all. KFC???
