I am looking for any input here. My husband and I are going to get a divorce.
He gave me our two indoor-only cats several years ago as a birthday gift. We
both love them very much. The boy cat is more attached to me and the girl
cat is more attached to him. They really have never gotten along all that
well, in that they do not cuddle, bathe each other, etc. They fight at least
once a day. Anyway, he is going to move across the country at some point
after our divorce. We both want to do what is best for the cats, they have
already put up with a lot of moves and other changes. Do we keep them
together (with me--and he will miss them terribly), or do we separate them
where the boy will stay with me and the girl will go with him. Then, if we
do split them, should we introduce another cat at some point. I work all day,
and b/c they are indoor-only cats, we always believed it was good for them to
have each other's company. It's hard enough to deal with a divorce, but
trying to consider the best-interests of a living thing that cannot speak for
itself is especially difficult.

You already answered your own question one likes you one like him go that
way so both cats and you two make out in it yes there will be readjusting
time but it is better than what you are describing to me it sounds like
they are having territorial issues.
Introducing cats to other animals is up to the cat some like it some don't
just introduce them slowly and correctly
But if you both decide to do the option of one keeps one get it in writing
IMO divorces almost always turn ugly some how some way.

The obvious answer is : the boy goes with you, the girl with your
husband; whether to intoduce another cat should be left to each
person's later judgment and circumstances, and need not be agreed or
discussed now.
