I lost my temper and yelled at my cat. He ran to the next room and has
been giving me a cold shoulder for 3 days. Is this normal?

You scared him you big meanie, now he's afraid of you. You have a lot of
sucking up to do to make it up to him (and next time, count to ten first or
use a water sprayer for bad behaviour instead of yelling).

Tiger gets yelled at all the time (mostly for hogging Amber's food). It
doesn't seem to bother him at all. I just head butt him a little later
and he starts purring and licks my head. If only he would respond to a
soft "no" instead of me having to shout (I start out soft but get
progressively louder until he responds).

Now try to make up by being overly sweet and asking for forgiveness. :)

I can't say if it's normal -- it's not the way my cats behave when I
yell at them for fighting -- but at least it's good that you didn't try
to physically punish your cat. :-)

Different cats have different personalities, so it depends. We have two,
and one will hold a grudge and avoid me for days after getting yelled
at. The other will be rubbing against me inside of a half hour.

My cat got an ear infection. I took him to the vet, and now I have to put
drops in his ear twice a day for 15 days. He doesn't like that at all. When
I'm done he takes off and hides under the bed in the spare room for about a
half hour. Then he's back on my bed looking to be petted.
