I'm not sure where I heard this (might have been here),
but someone had named their cat "Carl Malone" after the
basketball player.
I laugh inside every time I even think of that.
So, what's the strangest or funnist names you've
heard people name their cats?
Cadman - 14 Apr 2006 03:44 GMT
not a cat, but..
I know someone who was working for a public transportation company (ie. bus lines) in Philadelphia.
Her roomate, who worked for the same company, named his dog Rosa Barks.

Mine: Kelly Anne McKitten
My best friend: Fuzz Lips (aka Mr. Lips)
Sadly, Mr. Lips is missing. He's black, part Abyssinian and has
beautiful emerald eyes. Please put out intent that he's okay. Thank you.

My cousin had a kitten when he was about 3 and named it Sheila. It's not
really a strange name, but it was kind of strange that at 3, it was the name
he came up with. The family never knew a single Sheila, so to this day, no
one knows where he got the name from. Now he's in his 30s and he doesn't
even know why. ;)
Strange along those lines is our cat Sally... DS named her, and he as well
was about 3 when he named her. I don't recall the name Sally coming up
until he brought it up out of the blue. A pair of brothers of Sally's went
to a friend of mine who named one Pumpkinhead and the other Freddy Kruger.
I guess the cats both ended up being destructive to his old ratty furniture,
and since he didn't care, he just gave them fairly appropriate names.
My brother's cat's name is Chevy... He found an abandoned litter of 3
kittens in the back seat of an old Chev and when him and his friends were
positive the litter had definitely been abandoned, my brother took this
6-toed, oddly long tailed, backwards foot little girl in and his friend took
the other 2.
There was a girl my age in my (parents') neighbourhood who had a cat named
Snowball. He was a blackish-grey color.

be named "Ferrit Bueller"

Hehe... My brother had a hamster named Furball...
I had an iguana named Penelope....She turned out to be a he after a visit to
the vet ;) Name stayed, though. Iguanas are kind of like cats, only they
can carry more diseases, aren't as cute and cuddly, aren't soft and
something to snuggle with, and they walk on leashes better than any cat I've
ever seen!

lol......All good names!
I enjoy hearing what creative names people come
up with for their pets.
Mine current kitty is named Big Momma.
Because that was what I called my grandmother when
I was a little kid.
My landlord has about 12 cats.
One named Snowshoes.
Because he's an all black cat except for his feet
which are white.
One tenant he had, had one named Tripod...
because he only had 3 legs!

Learned Hand was a famous American judge. Some time ago, I noticed that
someone on one of the newsgroups had a cat named Learned Paw. I laughed out
loud when I saw it (but I don't remember which one, and this was several
years ago).

Our cats were named for how they either looked or acted.
Rainbow---tortoise cat;Nightshade--white with a little black, Baby Mama--she
was still a kitten when she showed up on our door, pregnant, Hobbes--after
the cartoon character, he's also a tiger cat, Miss Kitty--well, she was
already named that when we inherited her and then Ornery...what can I say,
he's Ornery! ;)

My parents had two Siamese (until recently all we had were Siamese, now I've
gone tabby: he's named Taboo). But their last ones were called Snowball and
Blizzard. They never replaced them after Blizzard was hit by a car (lived
near a blind turn hill) and later Snowball was killed by stray dogs. Great
cats both, but just as a gentle tease I used to usually call "Snowball" by
another name. Hint: he was neutered.

We've rescued a litter of five kittens. They were all about one week
old and their eyes were still closed, so we named them:
Ray (now dead =( )
Stevie Wonderbread (he's white as wonderbread!) aka Sir Purrs-a-lot
Ellen Keller (she only liked to hang on the girls)
Sanba (3-8 in Chinese; slang for "bitchy" - she cries a lot)
and Spot (we're not very creative) aka Purrbot
Aside from us, I have a cousin who named her cat Chairman Meow and
another who named every cat Minu (French for kitty). I honestly don't
know how she told them all apart.

We named our Buffy after Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Buffy was found on the free-way. A friend who does rescues spotted her--I
don't know how--at 60 MPH in some trash on freeway and stopped to get her.
She was very torn up, obviously had been thrown from a vehicle. After some
surgeries and home with my friend, we got a call from her asking if we'd
like to see her. She sent us a picture and said she knew we had our hands
full with my father in the hospital for months and about to go onto hospice
and come back home with us, but she had a hunch. She was not sure she'd
completely recover from her wounds and didn't want to strap us with a burden
with the challenges we already had but....We took her for a weekend and the
rest is history. http://www.davidandmollie.com/kitty/tinycat.htm
Why Buffy? Well, my father said she was buff colored and I was a Buffy
fan--and this little kitten was as tough as a vampire slayer--a real
survivor--but cute as heck and pretty "blonde" too ;-) Now that she's grown
up she's less tough and more blonde, but when she and the new kitten stir it
up they are both pretty tough.

When Mama had her kittens we named them all...was really a trick figuring
out who was who. All but one were tiger cats. Calvin was a calico type
cat---unfortunately, he,too, was involved in a freak accident and died at 4
weeks :'(
The other cats were Hobbes (whom we kept), Shy (female), Pete and
RePete(female, because she looked just like her brother...Shy, was..what can
I say...Shy).

Good job saving Rumble.
Unlike his previous life, he certainly looks as comfortable
as can be expected now.
