better check back after 9 days to see if they are planning to put it to
sleep.

We had a crying stray,too....about a year ago. I let him in a couple times
because he was so pathetic. He ended up one morning with a sore foot, so I
took him to the vet...had decided to add another one to our crew..but found
out he was dying of feline leukemia. He was put to sleep shortly after that.
So, chances are, this cat you have may be sick which is why he is crying.

It may be the poor cat is crying for its real home because it is lost.  Is
it possible for you to photograph the cat and post pictures locally in case
the owners are looking for it?  My beloved Tiggypuss (now dead) was once
returned to me because he was found crying in someone's garden.  I will
always be grateful to the couple who brought him home.

Perhaps you could cope just a little longer in the (perhaps vain) hope that
you could reunite him/her with his family?

Best of luck.

pray tell, how does a cat "cry"?  how do you know if a cat is crying?
I've had my cat for years and I don't recall that he has ever cried.
Does he shed tears?  Does he whimper and sniffle?

My Sam "crys" every time I do his nails and when he does the others 3 are right there to
see what I am doing to him.  When he just meows they could care less.

Mine all cry different but a person gets so they can tell when they are crying just like I
could tell when my two legged babies would cry or when they were faking it.

One tells by knowing the cat intimately and understanding its distress.
However, apart from vocal calls, my Cheetah once shed two huge tears after
little Panther joined us.  She is still jealous .. but coping well.

Didn't say there was anything wrong with it, I just thought it was funny.
Hell, my little sweetie is called Deetoo and I didn't name her for any of
the reasons that most people would think.

I had a cat named Tiger many years ago...And my brother named one of his
cats "Doofus", just like I named the last cat we got Ornery.

I did have a Cougar, but he was killed by a car at 17 mths old.  I loved hom
so much and it was heartbreaking.  I don't see my husband letting me have
another cat until Cheetah and Panther are dead, but one can dream.  I have
thought about Linx and Margay.

i saw a cougar once driving home from work.  I
called the dnr about it. Since there is not
confirmed cougar sightings (the dnr are keeping
the vow of silence on this being it's possible
there are mountain lion but unlikely)  They tried
telling me it was someones pet!
