A short time ago I was lying on my couch watching the history channel
with two of my cats on me vying for my attention.
Not a day seem to go by that I am not amaze at the complex and loving
relationship that can form between two such dissimilar animals as that
of a cat and a human.
I know that humans, for the most part, consider themselves at the very
least at the right hand of God and completely apart from the "lower"
animals that we share this world with.
We even consider ourselves apart from nature and not simply one aspect
of nature.
And yet we still had open our homes and hearts to the offspring of the
wolf and the offspring of the tiger.
Somehow I think and I hope that even if someday we change ourselves
into beings more powerful then the God most of now worship, the
creators and the destroyers of whole universes, we still will have a
lap or two open for our cats to sit in.

Life has many stages:
1) Life but with no consciousness
2) Reaction...such as a plant leaf toward sun
3) Awareness / conciousness
4) Self-awareness
5) Godliness
The day will never come when humans become more powerful than God...
however all living things are components within one vast conciousness.
A human who is raised from birth in total isolation will never develop a
conciousness...
and in essence will remain a vegetable.
The "soul" starts somewhere within the level of awarness...
Could a human exist without a soul?
Could a cat exist with a soul?
We gain our souls through interaction with others.

Cats are elegant, complex, fascinating and comforting. The idea of a
god is a retreat from reality, like imagining a big win on the lottery.
Having house cats is a much healthier way to cope.
