First I want to thank all those who gave their words of comfort and
concern on my first posting regarding our old kitty, Sparky. It is
because of you that I felt a need to inform you all of this sad event.
The purpose of my original posting, although disturbing in its request
(of methods to euthanize a cat at home), was not needed or used. I
was able to make my trip and return without my wife being alone when
Sparky passed.
Sparky left us in the early hours today, Sept. 11th, 2003. The night
before she had "talked" to me, in her whispered voice. Making herself
heard as though she was making peace with me before she left. My wife
checked her this morning and, with a feeling she had passed, would not
touch her to confirm her fears. I checked her and confirmed she was
gone. My wife broke down and cried while I comforted her.
Later in the day, after she had been prepared, we picked a nice spot
on the property. Under a big black walnut tree in the front yard,
overlooking the valley, we buried her. My wife placed her favorite
toy (a plushie mouse with a bell on the tail) in with her, and tossed
a handfull of dirt on. Afterwards, she placed some flowers, tied with
bright colored yarn, on the marker rock.
I'm sure it will take some time for my wife to get over this loss (as
she was very close to Sparky), and it will be some time before we're
ready to "adopt" a new kitty. As a part of her greiving process, my
wife has asked that I make her a web site with some pictures of
Sparky. So, please help in the rejoicing of Sparky's life and visit
her tribute page at: http://silvertrinket.home.mindspring.com/
Again, thank you all for your kindness and support.

I remember your post, and am sorry for your loss. At least Sparky began
his journey to the Rainbow bridge with his loved ones around instead of
alone or surrounded by strangers. I visited your page and it is an
excellent tribute to Sparky. I am sorry to mention this at this tough
time for you and your wife but none of the pictures or graphics on your
page are visible. They show as broken links. I looked at the web page
source code and I think it is because the image source is - for example
- "..\_uimages\Trinket.jpg" instead of ".\_uimages\Trinket.jpg". I only
mention it so the tribute to Sparky can by complete.
Again my condolences on your loss.

IE6 does render the page with the images. But both Mozilla 1.5b and
netscape 4.8 do not. The images return a page not found error (error
404) if I try and view them in either browser. Just differences in how
the browsers render the html code I guess.

Sorry about the problems with Sparky's page. I've redone it with new
graphics. They (some) were originally 640x480 images with reduced
dimensions in the html code. I believe the reductions were what was
causing the problems.
Please let me know if there is still a problem with the off color
browsers. :)

Hello. The problem is not the reductions or anything else to do with the
graphics themselves. What is causing the problem is the slash character
used in the links to the images. The slash normally used by html is this
one "/" the one used in your links is "\". Apparently IE translates this
slash "\" into this one "/". Netscape and Mozilla do not do this so the
link fails with a 404 not found error. The problem still exists because
of this. Using the correct slash will fix it.
Again my condolences on your loss.

The reduction of size in the pics was good though, as it makes the
pages load faster ;)

Of course <butt forehead with palm>. I use Notepad to edit my html
pages, and have to make 2 versions. One (.htm) for local and one
(.html) for web. I sometimes forget to make that change when
rendering the web pages. I use IE so, the local version will not
display the pics with the relative path (../) and the web version will
not display them without it :/ Although both will handle the
backslash as opposed to the forward slash. It should be fixed now
then :)
Another reason to dislike Micro$oft.

Yes it does work now. Somewhat true of MS. They should use the html code
as is even if it is an error this occurrence indicates exactly the
reason why.

I'm so sorry to hear that Sparky has left you. Its always so sad to
lose one of our beloved furry friends. But you can find peace in
the fact that Sparky passed in a natural manner in her comfortable
environment and surrounded by the people she loves.
Sparky was a beautiful cat. I just saw your pictures and she is very
pretty.

My condolences to you and your wife. I know how difficult this is as I've
gone through it a few times. Sparky passed in her own time and I feel she
was ready. We you cross the Rainbow Bridge, she'll be waiting.

My sincere condolences in the passing of Sparky. I was praying you
would not have to "do" the final act. Your memories will be much
happier because she passed naturally. My best wishes to your wife for
continues strength and wellbeing. I thought I would wait a long time
after Princess departed -- the time was actually one month. I hated
being without a fuzzy face to talk to. Best of luck! MLB

unfortuantly I couldn't see any of the pictures. BTW I was born in

She was lovely. If its any comfort to you, think how
beautiful she is now.
With sympathy

I'm so sorry for your loss, but glad everything worked out in the least

faring okay.
