Mischu pooping in tub

I have a nine month old cat named Mischu. I got him when he was six
months old from a breeder. We have one other cat who is to years old
and she came from the same breeder. Mischu has a litterbox problem, he
will pee in the box all the time but will not poop in it. I called my
vet and they suggested putting him in a small room with food and a
clean box for three days. I went out and bought him a dog crate so he
gets fresh air and can see whats going on. I put him in the crate for a
week. I would let him out every day as long as I watched him so he
could run around. For the whole week he used the box flawlessly. Mon
was the last day so I let him out and this morning he pooped in the tub
again. I called the vet again and they said to put him back in the
crate. I don't want to traumatize my kitten but the same time I don't
want to have to bleach my shower every time I use it. Any suggestions
would be greatly appreciated.  Thnaks-Lisa

Get two litter boxes.  Some cats prefer to pee in one and poop in the other.
Since you have two cats, you should have two boxes anyways - you should
always have at least one box per cat.  Scoop them as many times a day as
possible too.  Some cats are fussier than others.

Why?  We have two cats, one litter tray.  We scoop it a few times a
day, change it twice a week, works perfectly well.

Same here.  And when we had three cats, we still had just one litter box.
When we put two out, no one ever used the second one.

Most people who have 3 cats have at least 2 boxes.  What if more than one of
them has to go at the same time?

Cats are like people, they're all different. Some will use a litter tray,
some won't go near one. As a general rule, one tray per cat plus one extra
is a good idea.

So what happens when they both have to go at the same time?  It's happened
with mine.

I only have one cat, but I've still got a litterbox availability problem.
Has anyone ever noticed that two minutes into the cleaning process, that's
when your cat has to go? That's what my cat does. She waits for me to start
cleaning the pan and then starts nosing around, mewing that there's no
litter for her to use.

Ornery comes while I am cleaning the boxes and "bosses" me around. Then as
soon as I am finished...He goes in the  box....Yep...know what you mean!

p.s. Ornery used to poop in the bathtub and on the floor next to the tub! I
had washed the floor with detergent and sprayed deodorizer on the
floor,too...that is when he started going in the tub. He stopped doing this
after a while...

Yup.  I recently poured the used litter into a bag and went into the kitchen
to throw it in the garbage.  I come back and one of them is sitting in the
empty box peeing!

Har! That's funny! One other thing too, I've noticed about my cat. Most
times after doing her business in the litter, she hops out all full of
energy, ready to zip around everywhere. I guess it's true that a good
cleaning out gives you energy.  <g>

better to have a cat poop in one, pee in another rather than a cat pee
in one and wants to be let out doors to poop :p

Suggestion.  Put some newspapers in the tub and then another litter pan.
Not the ideal solution, but it might help until he gets the idea he should
use a pan.  Good luck.   MLB
