Ringworm!

I recently adopted Jaxon, a now four month old kitten from the local
humane society, and he has ringworm!!!  He has already had 12 days with
the pills Griseofulvin and the ringworm came back (or what not fully
gone in the first place)  It started as one large spot.  That spot is
gone now, and have about 7 smaller spots developed around where the
first spot was.  Now the vet has me putting Conofite Lotion on those
spots once a day.  Last night I attempted to give him a bath with
Miconazole shampoo.  I can shampoo him with this once every three days,
but it was so traumatic to him that I'm debating if it is even worth
trying again because it was so stressful.

Anyway, my question is has anyone else dealt with this type of
situation with their own cats?  If so, what eventually resolved the
problem? Any words of advice or encouragement?  Thanks so much!!

I just went through this with kittens of the same age as yours.
Sporonax or Sporanax liquid drug was given once a day. Shampoo with
Nizoral every 3 days.

CONTINUE YOUR SHAMPOO! I'M SHOUTING HERE...I really mean it.

Rub in a solution of 1 spoon shampoo with 6 ounces of water with a
sponge. Mix it first with the sponge. Let the shampoo stay in 10
minutes before you rinse.

Take the lotion your vet recommends.

If YOU get ringworm get a prescription for Lamasil. 2 weeks is enogh.

Wash bedding with 10& bleach. Vaccum  Jaxon's environment.
Ringworm is really annoying but ringworm is always defeated in the
end.

Hope this was some help.

That sounds like a less traumatic way of shampooing.  I'll give that a
try next time.  I tried setting him in the sink and pouring water over
him and he really freaked out!! I know it wont be entirely pleasant,
but that definately sounds better than my method.

I've been dealing with this ringworm business for a month now and I
have yet to get it, so I'm hoping that it will continue!

It has been really annoying, but a friend put it in perspective for me
when she said "better ringworm than heartworm!!", and that is totally
true.

Thank you for your suggestions! I really appreciate the advice!

Ringworm is 100% curable even if you do nothing. Of course. it would
last a year. The important thing is not to panic, and keep on
fighting.

THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!!!  Your recommendation of bathing
him with the sponge was AWESOME!!! It was 100x easier than last time,
and though he might disagree,  not as traumatic!  He didnt scream and
struggle like he did last time.  Still a little shaky, but I assume
that's fairly normal, since it's not like it was super fun for him! I
feel much more confident about continuing with the shampooing!
