We have two small dogs that sleep a lot when we're gone. We also have a
small doggie door. The yard is fenced with a 6 foot fence and no small entry
points. SOMEHOW a cat is etering the doggie door and SPRAYING the inside of
the house. How can I deter this? Thanks for ANY help!!!!!

I won't comment on dogs that sleep through a cat coming into their home, but
let me ask. How do you know it's a cat? Have you seen it? Maybe one of the
dogs is urinating. If you're sure it's a cat, then you can buy spray at a
pet shop that is supposed to deter cats. I wouldn't spray it on the doggie
door, but maybe just outside the door. Hopefully, what deters cats won't
bother your dogs too much.

That's about all I can think of other than setting some type of humane trap
to catch the cat and either talk to its owners if you know who they are or
take it to the local animal shelter.

They have cat / dog doors that will only open for an animal wearing an electronic collar
that releases a latch on the pet door when they get so close.  Maybe that is what you
need.

why ya blaming the cats?
StompS - 27 Feb 2006 15:20 GMT
Thanks for the advise so far....

1. I have an expensive wood door that has a cut out for the current doggie
door...recutting will be my last option.
2. I can tell them difference between dog urine and cat urine. It's cat not
dog.
