I forgot to post a followup!  To anyone that is wondering how Jinx
fared, he did just fine.  We cleaned the area a couple more times,
administered the antibiotics until gone, and before long a thick scab
formed and eventually fell off.  Within a couple weeks it was difficult
to find the spot, and he's now good as new.  We scoured the entire
house and have yet to find what may have caused the cut.  I've added
