Sabrina's Mom - 15 Sep 2003 19:58 GMT
Its been 2.5 weeks since the surgery and Sarbina is doing wonderfully.

This past weekend we found her trying to sharpen her "paw" on the
plant basket.   This was always a little routine she had, she'd go to
the plant basket next to the TV and scratch her paws.  (she was
declawed before we got her).    Well, she now does this single pawed.
She starts out sitting, but ends up laying down.

She is actively jumping on the furniture and is now spending alot of
time on the couch with us watching TV.

Her scar is healing, there is still one area the doc is concerned
about, it may end up drying up and falling off, so we are keeping an
eye on it.  Other than that, the healing process is going well.

They did not send off further samples for testing, they just took the
leg, shoulder and surrounding muscles instead.

The dog (chloe) has been a sweetheart and an angle with Sabrina.   She
doesn't mess with her at all.   There have been times this weekend
even, I'm on the couch w/ sabrina on my lap and chloe will come and
put her head next to me and I pet both without issues.    Although
this morning Chloe tried to steal some of sabrina's food and sabrina
actually swatted with her left paw.    She's beginning to use that paw
more and more now.  (she was a right pawe'd kitty before)

Peace and harmony are back. :-)    We still feel bad for Sabrina, and
she's getting spoiled rotten.   One thing coming out of this is,
Sabrina is much more "chatty" these days, lettign out little chatty
meows all the time.

And a funny thing happened on Friday, I'd been doing laundry and the
dark clothes were laying on the couch to be folded.  I went looking
for a black tshirt, pushed some clothes behind, didn't see it, grabbed
another set but instead I grabbed fur and I got this little "meet"
from Sabrina, she was hiding in the clothes and black fur and black
clothes I didn't see her at all.  I had lightly grabbed her head.
Had me on the floor laughing.   (guess you had to be there).

I'm glad Sabrina's doing well - but this last part reminded me of when
Tennessee (also black) decided to nap in a basket of laundry-to-be-washed.
The basket was in a dim room, and when I went to pick it up to take it to
the washer, I nearly broke some fingers as it weighed 15 pounds more than it
should have!  He was upset that I stole his napping place, but not nearly as
upset as he would have been if he'd been run through the wash!

I'm so glad to hear how wonderfully she's adjusting, cuddles and all, that's
very happy news!  Not to mention Chloe making the whole process easier, what
a sweetie. :)

Happy days!!!

Ann

P.S. Just brought the new kitten home yesterday - photos and ramblings to
follow! :)
