My Missy would be no good..! She catches them outside, then brings them in
as "presents" which she dumps on the kitchen floor..! Mostly they're dead
but we get the occasional live one, which I then have to spend hours
coaxing out from behind the cooker..!
Aaaarrggggghhhhhhh...!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Having said that, I'm not sure that there's any particular type of cat
that's predisposed to mouse catching. Some cats like it and are good at
it, some don't and aren't. We had a cat 25 years ago that was excellent at
mousing, but none of those we've had since have shown any inclination
towards it, apart from my Missy's efforts ;-)

Sounds familiar.
I was sat watching TV last week and out the corner of my eye I saw a Spider
run out from under the chair. I hate the things so I jumped up on the chair.
After I stood there for about 10 minutes it ran out again...It wasn't a
spider it was a bloomin mouse!!!!!
I managed to catch it eventually.

We had a cat that was half shorthair mix and half bobcat. It was an
aggressive and often foul tempered cat but, it killed a lot of mice and
rats. Also an occasional cardinal, oriole, or bluejay. We overlooked
that, but when my sister bought a toucan, Lex as we named him had to
go. He had been neutered and didn't spray, but we could not find a home
for him. We put him in a ventilated box and gave him to the shelter
where we figured they might, on the off chance, find a home for him. Of
course they didn't even try. He was euthanized immediately, we later
learned.
I've found long hairs, torties specifically make a sport of it. Whether
they'll do it all the time I couldn't say. Yes I received the little
"present" too. At the foot of the bed, I wondered why the cats were
growling, looked and had to seperate them from the mouse so I could throw it
out and give it a chance to live again.
