Put the tree up.

Half an hour later one of the Borodino soldiers was on
the floor.

Now the lower branches are bare, everything moved up
about 2 feet.

Not far enough, apparently.  One of the balls is in the
corner.  And the wool sheep is hanging by a thread.

I go a different route. The last time I actually put up and decorated a tree
was close to thirty years ago. It stayed decorated in my apartment at the
time until June of the following year, then it stayed on the balcony until
October at which time the few twigs that were left took a swan dive off the
balcony.

muahahaha yep sound like me and my apartments.  I
never fiddled with trees.  I don't have wife/kids,
and the christmases i have g/f i don't spend the
actual christmas in my apartment.  I suppose when
i get house, family etc. i'll deal with christmas,
even pretend to like it.  Other than that bahumbug.
