I've been feeding our cats Royal Canin for quite a few years now, with great
results.  However, they recently changed their formula and added a fiber
source - pumpkin, I suspect - and now, when someone has a hairball on the
carpet, it leaves a yellow stain.  Is there another really good nutritional
formula that doesn't have this, or the red dye that is so common in some
brands?

For dry food, nothing beats the new Evo food from Innova. Canned foods
there are many very good options: Innova and Felidae is all I would feed
if my picky crew would eat them. :(
