Some of you may remember my post about my kitty Yes & his biting me.
First let me tell you I loved him very much.  Even though I had to put
him to sleep. I did not do it because he had bitten me, as a lot of
people had suggested i do.  I ended up with a partial crippled hand & I
held no malice toward Yes. Yes was a very aggressive cat, especially
toward our other kitties. He attacked them every chance he got & one was
so terrified she would pee all over herself at his site.  Why he would
try to kill her & another cat we have is unknown to me, while he let two
stray kittens alone & would play with them. I only had him 18 months or
so, he was a stray like all of our kitties. I have his ashes in the
house along with his brush & some of his toys. When the weather warms
this spring I will spread them in the places he liked to sit . It will
be three weeks tomorrow. I hope  Yes  & God  have forgiven me. I pray
that I never have to go thru this again. Thank everyone for reading
this. I can tell a differance in the kitties. They seem to enjoy the
outdoors now. Especially  Luvy, Rainy, & Snowflake.

My heart goes out to you! I am sure you loved Yes....Who knows why Yes did
what he did. My thoughts and prayers are with you....

Sad, Mike.  All we can do is use our best judgement on tough calls like
this.  Some will find you right and some will find you wrong, but it's
done, after all, and the other cats have benefitted.  Sorry about your
hand!  Will physical therapy gain you back the full use of it
eventually?  Hope so.

Hi Mike,

There was never any doubt that you loved Yes.  I'm sure God knows that, too.
Yes is now resting, and I'm sure he still loves you and forgives you.  You
did the best you could for him while he was alive and, yes, the best thing
for him ultimately.  A mercy killing is sometimes the last real kindness one
can do for a beloved pet.  Heaven knows, grief is bad enough without
torturing yourself with guilt.  We all know you didn't do it lightly, so
please don't beat yourself up over it.  Just continue to love him and
remember the good times.  Hurl yourself into loving and pampering your now
much relieved kitties and, of course, take care of that hand.  Never give up
exercising it - the very least it can do is strengthen the rest of your
hand, but hopefully rather more than that.

Take care and be comfortable with your decision.  It wasn't a knee-jerk
reaction, but a loving and much considered resolution to an impossible
situation.
With kind regards,
Spider
