We've had a seventh-generation bengal since he was born about 7 years

ago. He'a an indoor cat and is litterbox-trained. But lately, he's

taken to peeing at various locations. At first, I thought he was

doing this because his litterbox wasn't clean but that's not the case.

I found a solution for one of his favorite loactions. I simply moved

one of his favored cat-beds onto this rug on the assumption that no

species relieves himself where he sleeps.  But he's taken to other

locations.

Anyone have any other ideas on convincing him to go only in the

litterbox?

We have an 8 year old third generation Bengal and she did this occasionally
even before the hellikitten arrived.  Once she did it when my husband had
accidentally banged into the litter box when she was inside so our theory is
that something happened to spook her about the litterbox.  So for the next
several mornings and evenings we would place her in her litterbox and praise
her profusely when she went.  The first time she would always resist and then
was fine.  It was like she had to be reminded that it was a safe place.

my cat follows me into every room and mimics everything I do---even so far as jumping in the shower with me. try pissing in the litter tray yourself---- right in front of her.

It may be a medical problem. You should have your cat checked out by
your vet.

If your cat has a medical problem (like kidney stones or a urinary tract
infection),
and it hurts when he uses the box, he may be associating the pain with
using the box,
and not with the actual act of urinating.

I have had cats do this also. Get them checked by a vet for problems
first. If theres not anything wrong  then theres several things you can
do.
1) If its only in a couple spotts put his food and water there or a
bed. Somthing that he will not want to relieve himself near.
2) If its more than one or two spots put him in a small area with food,
water, bed, and litterbox this way he has nowhere else to go. let the
area get bigger like on room when you see thats hes used the litterbox
a couple times. After bout a week let him go about normally enless you
notice him reilieveing himself in other areas.
3) somtimes when cats are old they can,t make it to the litterbox so
you need to put one in every romm. We had to do this for our old cat
kitkat. She kept relieving herself in areas around the house. Well we
tried evreything else before we relized she couold hold it to get to
the litterbox. We found this out when she was running towards the
litterbox and she weted herself. Now that theres a litterbx in
everyroom then she doesn't relieve herself on the carpet anymore.

Hope this helps

Inappropriate peeing is usually as a result of one of two things. A medical problem or a behavioural one. It's important to rule out a medical one first. Have you had a chat with your vet?
