I volunteer at the local Cats Protection (UK) shelter, it is a strictly
no-kill organisation, there is only one time when we consider putting a
cat to sleep and that is when a vet advises it, such as in the case of
FeLV (Leukemia). Other than that, we will keep cats for as long as it
takes, our longest serving resident, Polly, has been with us for about 9
years..! She loves to sleep on top of the tumble dryer in the laundry room
:-)
See www.cats.org.uk for info about us.

Aww, poor Polly, why hasn't she been adopted? I know she will have had
excellent care and love at CP, but it can't be the same as living with
a family, poor love. You're not in London are you? I would like to
visit her.

I got one of those also his name is Charley he has been with us for some
many years that I forgot how long he has been here. He is blind so no one
wants him but us the funny thing is you would never know he was blind he
has run of the office and acts just like a normal cat. The kids that a
visit think he is great and want to take him home but the mom's and dad's
always say no. Unknown to them when they come into the office we watch how
they act with charley and judge them from that. We have turned away alot of
people when we see their reactions to charley
