we have a 14 month old cat that is really fat, she weighed 6 lbs in march
and now weighs 14.2 lbs.
we have had her to the vet 3 times for being overweight, and all they
tell us is don;t feed her so much.
this cat eats 4 oz of dry food per day(Natural choice, weight management)
we took her to the vet again friday and they did a complete blood work
up with other tests to the tune of $286.00 which is a little excessive.
the tests came back normal.she did have a urinary tract infection, because
she is too fat to clean herself.
I think the other alternative is to have an x-ray to eliminate a tumor.
is it possible for a cat to gain so much weight from 4 oz of dry food
per day, and there not be a health problem.
I am at a loss as to what to do. the poor thing just waddles around and
has no energy.
thanks.

I am interested in the answer too.  If cat can be hyper thyroid, why can
they not be hypo thyroid.   MLB

thanks for the reply, the vet charged us for a thyroid hormone level
test, however, it was not included in the lab report,so I can only assume it
was overlooked.
maybe that test needs to be looked at again.
your reply is appreciated.
