Goodbye Sheba :-(

My friend Sheba, one of the resident cats at the Cats Protection rescue
shelter in Birmingham (UK) where I volunteer, unfortunately had to be put
to sleep last week :-(

We don't know the full story yet, but she had been suffering from an
inflamed throat and couldn't swallow or meow, so the vet put her on a tube
feed. This became very distressing for her, so last week it was decided to
let her go. She was an old(ish) cat, at least 14 or 15, so it wasn't
altogether unexpected, although it's always sad, especially as Sheba had
become my favourite over the months we'd had her.

Please take a look at some pictures of her on my website at
www.g6urp.co.uk/sheba

These pictures show her in a pen, but since they were taken she'd become
one of the free-roaming cats around the place, she'd taken up residence in
the deputy manager's office, next to the radiator :-)  Unfortunately my
camera went missing around this time, before I got to take any more
pictures :-(

Rest in peace, Sheba. You will be missed.

The Rainbow Bridge
Revised

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that
pet
goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can
run
and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm
and
comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and
vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just
as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each
miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly
stops
and looks into the distance turns to the group and calls. Their bright eyes
are intent; their eager body
quiver. Suddenly they begin to run from the group, flying over the green
grass, their legs carrying them faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friends finally
meet,
you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. Their happy
kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress their beloved heads, and
you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, your loves,  so long
gone from
your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
*** "And nothing but peace and the love of your Dear Friends"****

Author Unknown the poem has been changed a little from the original

This part should  have been added

****"Always remember We will be there even if you can't see me. We are
always watching and Waiting.  That cool puff of air you feel across your
cheek, that fleeting
touch, the feeling you have that I was walking across your bed, that moment
you swear you can hear us, that flicker of movement out of the corner of
your eye.  Is just our way of saying I love you and I am with you always
even in the darkest time We Will Always Be There " ***

She looked like my kitty, Ornery...Did she have any white markings on her?
Ornery has some white fur sprinkled  on his belly

She was indeed, thanks Diana. I loved her face, almost oriental. She loved
to rub her face against anything and everything..!

OOOOOOOOOOOhhhhhhh So beautiful. She was a lady, I'm sure. My eyes watered
up seeing her pictures, knowing how much every one of them deserve a good
life and how much they are loved. Somehow I hope they all know that they are
loved, even when they must leave us......:{

I am so sorry for your loss, Ivor.  I know you will miss her.  What a beauty
she was!

I took comfort in this site after I lost my Simon (Maine Coon) last year at
the age of 15.  And yes, you are right, it's no comfort that they might have
lived a long happy life and that it is "time."  Selfishly perhaps, I still
want him back and wish he were here, infirmities and all.

Hugs and purrs going your way this evening.

That's great, many thanks.

I collected Sheba's ashes today, so she's come home at last :-)

Just been thinking, how do I get a little note attached to Sheba's name on
that site so people can read a little more about her..?
