I have two 3 year old males who seem rather bored in my condo apt.
They can't go outside and
ignore all the Petco toys I bought them.  Do cats need entertainment?
If so, what?

I made my 2 cats Rosie and Bonnie some interesting "feeding toys".

I took an empty square plastic ice cream container, and cut an approx. one
inch hole near the bottom edge on one side.  I put some cat biscuits in the
container and replaced the lid.  The cats spent quite a lot of fun time
laying down on the carpet digging out the cat biscuits.

Another feeding toy you can make is to take a small empty plastic drink
bottle, and cut a couple of small holes in it, just about the size to allow
a cat biscuit to fall out when the bottle is rolled along the ground.  Put
some cat biscuits in the bottle and replace the top. The cats can see the
biscuits and have to roll it along to get the biscuits to come out.  They
love it!!

Another toy my cats absolutely love is a kid's cheap collapsible play
house/tent.  It is made of fabric and wire - one of those things that you
can collapse and fold up into a fairly small parcel.  The one that I have
includes a tunnel that connects the two "tents".  I put one of their
scratching posts in one of the tents, and this anchors the whole contraption
quite securely.  Then with the addition of a few furry toy mice etc. they
spend hours chasing each other round, and ambushing each other.  The
advantage of this being collapsible is that you can put the whole thing away
in a jiffy, and it takes up very little storage space.

Of course, the good old cardboard boxes are always a great lot of fun for
cats!!  Cut a couple of peep-holes in the sides, and, if possible connect a
couple of boxes together to create an interesting chase-tunnel.

As some of the others have mentioned, a laser pointer is usually a good way
to get your cats energised and exercised!  (If used by an adult, and with
care not to point the light directly at the cat they are quite safe to use).

Cats love to hunt for their food, so try hiding a few biscuits here and
there for them to "find".

Have fun....... and get creative!!
