Anyone else besides me have a cat that likes yogurt. I was enjoying my yogurt tonight and my 'child' tried to get up in my lap and take it away from me !! I put a little on the tip of my finger and she lapped it right up !!! Sabrina loves it. So does Chloe the dog. I always give Chloe my container when I'm done with it and she takes it off to the other room and licks it clean. > Anyone else besides me have a cat that likes yogurt. My cat also loves yogurt. At first she'll sit on your lap and swat at your hands. I'll put a little on my finger and she'll lick it off. Then when I'm through, she'll lick the container clean. Her purrs are so loud while she's licking. My cat thinks she's part dog because she is always begging by the dining room table when we eat. She tries some of it. Some she leaves and others you better watch out! Now her morning ritual is to sit in a chair by me when I'm eating cereal. Talks to me and when I'm done she gets my cereal milk at the table. I know that cats are sometimes intolerant of ordinary cow's milk due to the lactose content, hence there are reduced lactose milks available for cats. My Missy loves this, and I'm sure she'd like yoghurt, so if I were to give her some, would there be a problem..? Ivor >> My cat also loves yogurt. Does this also apply to cheese? My old cat (died a couple years ago at age 19) insisted that I share with him whenever I was eating cheese. If you are at the bottom of the bowl and pick it up to "drink"... OH BOY - she will let you know that you had better not drink all of it, as that's her job. It's an excellent food, containing significant amounts of good-quality protein, as well as carbohydrate, fat and several minerals including calcium. Since it is made from milk, it has most of the same nutrient qualities as milk. Some cats may be lactose intolerant and may not be able to handle yogurt. If your cat is consuming a good deal of yogurt, in addition to a normal amount of cat food, watch for signs of obesity. To prevent your cat from gaining too much weight you may wish to keep the yogurt down to no more than a few tablespoons a day. This will also assure that its entire diet remains complete and balanced. Another suggestion might be to feed low-fat rather than regular yogurt.
