I recently adopted a 8wk old male kitten named Sammy. I also have a 8yr old
cat named Mittens.(female) I aslo have a 5yr old dog. Well when i first
brought sammy home mittens was not very happy, she would hide from him and
hiss at him. In the past month my grown cat has began to tolerate sammy and
doesn't hide from him or hiss. She just watches him like he's nuts. Anyway,
as of past few weeks sammy has started attacking my grown cat.As soon as he
sees her he will go for her throat and jump on her back. My poor cat doesn't
even fight back she just tries to get away. Now, my kitten is not neutered
yet he will be in a month or so. Does anyone know if he gets nuetered maybe
that will calm him down. He 's fine with my dog. Is he going into heat? He
has tried to mount her a couple times. My other cat is spayed. I don't know
what to do. I feel bad for my older cat and don't want her injured. I don't
want to get rid of sammy either. If anyone has ever been in similar situation
please give me some advice on what i can do. thanks...kris
Sammy is just acting like a kitten...or little kid next to a
teenager...Ornery does this to our other older cats,too...
He has calmed down a little since getting neutered, but he's still a kitten
at 5 months.
As I say, a kitten next to a older cat is like having a youngster wanting to
play with his older/teenage sibling...

Watch that the younger cat doesn't get spoiled. I know she has a soft spot
for Ornery, which is doing him no favors.
