My 3 yr. old black cat Boris has a dandruff problem. Wonder what I can
do?
There's no way he'll let me give him a bath.Last time he had a bath the
vet did it and they had to knock him out first...he was a real mess when
I got him home...totally out of it for a while...hissing at me, I made
up my mind I'd never do that to him again.
Is there a special food...something I can add to his food?
Thanks.
Our Rainbow has/had dandruff, it comes and goes. Unless your vet thinks it's
something more than just a nuisance to him, if you can brush him, great! He
isn't by any chance a long hair also? If he is, watch for allergies to
things like fleas or mites. Usually those are extreme conditions, and that's
how they'll show up. Recently someone mentioned scabs all over a cat's
back-flea dirt. Shorter hairs are easier to deal with...sometimes. Afterall
we are talking about cats. Perhaps our toughest to take care of, feed, etc.
is our kitten, another shorthair. He makes life hell for the rest of the
cats.

A lot of cat "dandruff" results from mite infestation.
The critters are microscopic but treatment is not
difficult.
