The neighbors sweet and cute kitten wandered around. Our
cat threatened it. Kitten responds with sweetness and
light. Our cat swiftly remedies this failure to
communicate. She savagely beats the kitten, bites it,
and claws it, and it flees squealing back to its house. Our cat stops
pursuing at approximately the property line.
Cats are, of course, famously unsociable animals, but
this is a bit disturbing, as kittens are, after all,
cute. Any thing we could do to promote harmony?

Sort of. Ask the kitten's "parents" to have her checked by a vet. If she's
ok, then the problem is with your cat. Unfortunately, of my 6 it was "let
them work it out for themselves." I guess you could use a spray bottle or
watergun, although Nightshade is the "more, please" type.

Red meat is not bad for you, that fuzzy
green meat, the kind with maggots is.

Would you neighbors consider keeping kitty indoors (and
spaying/neutring the kitty)?

We have a cat who wanders about (Male). He has a collar on him so he must
belong somewhere. When he comes around he leaves his mark all over outside.
To the point where I literally have a headache! If I can catch him...he's
very "skittish", I was going to put a note on his collar saying"Please
neuter me and let me stay indoors so I wont end up smashed like a fellow
feline did in an alley".

It seems you guys think my cat was teaching the kitten good habits by
working it over.
