Thanks Jean - and thanks to everyone for all the wonderful support though
all this. You all have been great.
Sabrina is still doing well. Although she isn't getting around much - she's
been hiding in her safehouse under the bed during the daytime and only
coming out to cuddle with me at night.
last night I made a new tray (thanks to an idea from the local puppymill
store). She'd lost her balance trying to drink yesterday morning. I went
to all the pet stores and local discount stores in town last night looking
for raised food dishes. Nobody had any in stock, but one woman suggested
putting the stainless steal bowls inside a shoe box. That worked.
Sabrina hasn't eaten more than a few bites of her food since she's been
home. But just now I moved her food bowl under the bed with her, and she
is eating a little bit now.
Although when I just checked the littermaid outside, it has 2 piles of pee
its cleaned up, so she is using the litter box.

PetSmart advertises some elevated racks for dogs. You might have to adjust
the height for Sabrina, but the small one is only 5.5 inches high. Here is
a picture:

And here is one from Drs. Foster and Smith. The smallest one is 8 inches.
They are more expensive (and may be more sturdy), but I am sure you would
have to reduce the length of the legs for a cat:

Good luck with Sabrina's recuperation.

Yes, that is what I was looking for. Unfortunately, Petsmart is a good 45
min drive away, so last night when i was trying to find a solution "THEN"
they weren't one of the stops I made - as it meant a good 2 hr drive in my
evening and I'd already gotten home late from work due to an accident that
had me parked on the interstate for over 1/2 hr.
Downside to living in a smaller city - the good stores aren't close by.
:-)
I've got a makeshift one made for $2 by buying 2 small stainless steal bowls
at Walmart and cutting 2 4" holes in a shoe box. This weekend when we've
got more time we'll head to Homedepot and buy some nice wood and make her
own custom setup that is perfectly fitted to her height. :) BF's got
the tools, its just a matter of having the time. (time to shop when the
stores are open, and whatnot).

That sounds great. You will probably get a much better setup since you are
going to customize it for Sabrina. Incidentally, both PetSmart and Drs.
Foster and Smith will ship items to you (in case you see anything else you
need). I would have to drive 75 miles, so I even order my cat food
(Wellness and Felidae canned -- from PetfoodDirect.com.

I realize they all ship - which if I had time, i'd consider it. :) I just
wanted something "last night" so shipping was out.
I try to head up to petsmart about once a month and make the trip with the
dog. Its one of those few places that is so pet friendly that we can bring
her with us and she loves the outting trip.
The one pet store that gave me the idea of the shoebox had this absolutely
gorgeous Maine Coon there who as soon as she saw me started jumping for my
attention. Oh, the poor thing stuck in a puppymill sales rooms like that.

When my Siamese had trouble drinking, I used a small stainless steel
mixing bowl that fit in the top of an empty coffee can. Something can
be placed in the bottom of the can to weigh it down if needed. MLB

I hope my message didn't come across as one of those "oh-too-superior" ones.
I didn't mean to imply that you wouldn't be willing to make the trip to a
pet store .. just wanted be sure that you knew about ordering over the
Internet. (But I guess most of this group do know such things. Duh!)
Anyway, your idea sounds super.

noproblem, you didn't. And on usenet, you never know if you are talking to
some newbie that just signed onto the internet for the first time,
yesterday, or some old hat (like me) who's been around since forever. :-)
(I first got online in 1991 using a dos based version of compuserve )
