Last night I stopped off at the supermarket and bought a can of cat
food, or so I thought. It was late and it was own label stuff so I
didn't recognise it, he doesn't usually get this brand but I had no
choice.
I got home, fed him it, he ate it all up and came back for seconds. I
thought it smelled a bit funny so I looked at the label and it was
..............
DOG FOOD!
I hope it didn't harm him but he seemed to really enjoy it, strange
thing, only really likes one brand of cat food but doesn't mind eating
dog food.

Before I read I thought maybe the cat turned up his nose because it was
inferior food. Harmed him though? What do you think stray cats eat? No not
necessarily dogfood, anything they can find. lol he'd fit in well with mine,
they'll eat almost anything we give them. Of course we're careful to give
them only healthy foods. Our vet bills are high enough.

Dog Food should not harm your Cat. BUT..it is not good enough as a
regular diet.

According to my notes - "Cats require a minimum of 41 nutrients...the
same 39 dogs need, plus two extra: taurine and arachidonic acid (dogs
need these as well, but can make them from other nutrients)..."
So your cat wasn't be harmed but nutritionally short-changed in that
meal. Probably not a big deal if it is a rare occurence.

It will be, it was an accidental purchase, couldn't get my usual brand
and thought I'd bought supermarket "own brand" but didn't read the
label properly, there was no photo of dog on it either!
