I have got 2 cats, Billy and Bonnie, they are 2 years old, I have just
rescued 2 kittens (9weeks old) I have had them for a week now, but billy
and bonnie are terrified of them, I have to keep the kittens in the living
room while billy and bonnie have their meals (all cats have seperate
feeding bowls), as soon as they have eaten they scoot past the living room
door and either go to a bedroom or go out depending on morning or night.
When billy or bonnie see the kittens they run like mad and if they cant
get out they hiss and growl, the kittens just stand there and sometimes
try to walk closer to them which only creates more hissing. The kittens
have fully settled in, you would think they have lived in the house for
years. I could understand if the kittens were frightened but it is the
opposite!!  I am not neglecting billy or bonnie they still get cuddles and
affection so they dont feel left out!! Since the kittens have arrived
neither billy nor bonnie will go into the living room anymore. Has anyone
else been through this, does it get better?

Billy and Bonnie have probably forgotten that they are cats too.  What
happens if they see themselves in a mirror?MLB

I do not think it is really because they are kittens but strangers.  I have 4 cats from 3
years to 12 years and have rescued several others from kittens to  cats and at times keep
them at my place while I get them cleaned up and find a home for them and my 4 act the
same regardless of how big or small the strangers are.  It is especially funny to see them
act afraid when the others are like 7 / 8 weeks old which the last one was.

When Billy or Bonnie look into the mirror they are fine.  Neither Billy or
Bonnie have attacked the kittens, just hiss's and growls from them then
they run away.

With time, maybe as the kittens grow to the cats' size it gets better. With
us we had two about two and three years old. We seperated them from the
stray we had just taken in (she was pregnant, who knew she'd give birth
thenext night). The kittens slept behind our bed, the other cats anywhere in
the house. At first they were afraid of the kittens, gingerly smelled them
and soon socialization took place. Now Hobbes (once a kitten) and Nightshade
the two year old then are pretty good friends. His only better friend is
Hobbes' mother.

If a turtle doesn't have a shell, is he
homeless or naked?
