This is something like the ego crusher. Our four year old goes down to the
basement in the dead of night, maybe he's going to the kitty litter? I'd
like to think so, although it would mean an overactive bladder. Then he
comes back up with something from the laundry in his mouth (most often dirty
laundry) and makes noise to get attention. Once? Okay we can deal with that.
Try six times and every night. Now that he has some competition, a new
kitten, he seemed to stop. Well next month the kitten won't be competition,
he'll be declawed and neutered too so fimgers crossed.

So you plan to mutilate the kitten by cutting it's toes off? Sadist!

Here we go again with another declawing debate !!!!!!

I know! Sheesh! Well, at least I figured out the block sender thing. If it
gets to messy like it did with sneekers and Phil, I am blocking them.
It reminds me when I worked for the govt. (yep the feds). There was an email
sent via outlook express...well, the thing didnt have anything to do with
most of us...well, alot of people responded to it by asking why they
received it. Instead of just replying to the one person who sent it, they
replied ALL. This went on for months! It finally died down. A year later,
someone who must had been on extended sick leave starts the thing over
again!
The bottom line to this, please dont start this subject again. I think the
poster was just talking about one of their cats...and inadvertantly
commented on the declawing. The poster already knows how everyone feels
about declawing.

Please do not declaw your cat. It is a horrible, inhumane practice
banned in most insdustrialized nations. Take some time to learn about
declawing and what it really is. I've found most people just don't know
what the process entails (chopping off the tips of the toes at the first
knuckle) and once they learn about it, they often change their minds.

Please don't declaw you kitty. They make covers for their little nails, kinda
like false ones, and these will keep them from harming your furniture, etc.
if that's what you're worried about. Imagine someone cutting off you fingers
at the first knuckle. It's the same thing. And yes I know "it's only a cat"
but we treat them as our children and would you do such a thing to a child?
Cats are not our property, they own us in their own feline way.

I've never seen the little covers you talk about.
Is there a site on line with photos?

Soft Paws have been available for several years. I first saw the ad in
Cat Fancy magazine. I have had them put on my cat several times. They
last on her about 3 months. MLB

Why would you just automatically declaw a kitten prior to knowing
if the kitten will attempt to destroy your furniture??? Not all
Cats/Kittens will do this and even many that do can be disciplined in
other ways that work.
Declawing,as bad as it is,should at the very least, only be as a "last
resort" when all else has failed.
There are alternatives.
To do declawing as a matter of practice is not right.

Jeez and I thought the ng I just left was bad, don't fall back into that
declaw/don't declaw debate again ut serves no purpose, useful or otherwise.

It DOES serve a purpose, to educate people what a horrific procedure it
is, that's why it's BANNED in the UK!! I hope you can live with your
actions if you go ahead and get it done to your poor cat, who has done
nothing to deserve it, it reminds me of those countries who cut
burglars hands off, thinking that a solution to the problem, grrr it
makes me so angry to even think people are still living in the dark
ages, and that vets are still greedy enough to take money for it,
bastards.
