This is the greatest thing I've seen in years. I laughed so hard that I
actually had trouble breathing.
Get your cat, about 12-18 inches of string, some tape and an empty soda
can. Take everything outdoors. Tape about 3 inches of the string to
the side of the can. Tape it VERY securely. Now, tie the other end of
the string to your cat's tail, up near the base where the tail meets the
butt. Tie the string as securely as you can without cutting off blood
circulation or anything (the idea is to secure the string without
hurting the kitty).
Now, release the cat in a wide open area and watch what happens. The
cat will walk a few feet and drag the can along the ground. When the
can makes noise, the cat will move faster. Moving faster will cause the
can to make more noise, and then the cat will start to run. Running
will create even more racket, and the cat will run faster. This run-
racket-run cycle will escalate until your cat is zipping around the yard
like a rocket, yowling, clearing tall obstacles with ease, etc. I know
it doesn't sound very exciting when you just read about it, but when you
actually do it, it will be one of the most hilarious things you've ever
witnessed.
Eventually the can will come off the cat. The can will get snagged on
something, or the string will slip off the cat's tail. At that point,
you should find the animal and pet it until it calms down, and probably
check it for injuries. After all, you want your little friend to be
safe and healthy for the next time you feel like playing this game.

At first I thought his would be good exercise, but it also seems
dangerous. Depending on how frightened and panicky the cat gets, I have
no ide where it could jump/run to. Mere fact that you suggests checking
for injuries tells me we should not try it.
