OK - my quick attempt at posting pictures that were just taken a few minutes
ago.
Good news - as I'm putting this quick page together, guess who comes hopping
in through the cat door after having gone out onto the lanai to lounge for a
bit. :-) I haven't heard the littermaid kick in, so I'll have to go see
if she left me any presents out there. But she apparently went out and in
her cat door with no problem.
The vet called earlier today and left me a message that Sabrina has made
vast improvements in her mobility since yesterday. They had her out
roaming the office earlier.
I tried picking her up on to my lap a bit ago, she wasn't interested and
jumped off. I thinkthat worries me the most is the stress on her for
landing after jumping. That's alot of weight to put on that one leg. But
I guess that will all take time.
When I got her home I opened her box (a top loader box) and she immediately
jumped out, was not interested in letting me pick her out. She made her
way into the bedroom, laid down on the floor and started purring.
My baby is home.
Now - after looking at the pictures - the one question I have for the vet.
Why didn't she bother removing the extra fat while she was in there. :-)
My baby needs lipo and a tummy tuck. :-) (yes, I have a sick sense of
humor. )

Sabrina looks as though she is adjusting very well to being a "tripod," and sounds like
she is going to get along just fine without her troublesome leg. Best of luck to both of
you.

That's wonderful news. She looks like she is balancing well, and th fact
that she can *jump* at this stage is great. What have you done about
Sabrina's litter box? Does she have easy access (in and out)?

She even managed to get up on the bed and is there right now - rolling
around, I can hear her purring and I'm about 10 ft away and she's doing that
half meow thing to get my attention so I'll go scratch/pet her somemore.
She can't get enough of my scratching - she must have missed that alot. :)
Litter pan is still outside. Considering she made her way outside to
lounge by the pool this evening when we were looking and came bounding right
back in when I was in the middle of posting the pictures - I think we will
be fine with her leavign the litter pan outside.
I'm hesitant to bring a pan inside and create a habit of indoor. We did
that once and put the litter in the bath tub when we first got the dog and
were getting the two acquainted and when we returned it to the outside - we
have this new habit of - if its raining (and her litter and the path to it
are under the roof overhang) she will stay inside and will jump into the
bathtub and pee in the tub. hey - I don't complain about that - bathtubs
are easy to clean and at least she isn't going on the carpet. But
something tells me it will be a while before she's up for jumping in and out
of the tub.
Ya know - ya'd think she's burning more calories hopping around on one leg?
I know she gets tired and takes breaks if she goes too far. And I'm
thinking about what its like as a human to hop on one leg gets the heart
rate up quickly. Could it be possible she will get more physical activity
this way and end up shedding some of her extra weight because of this.?
HHmmmm... just a thought.

That's fantastic! I do have concerns about her being outside at this time
unless someone is watching her, but I am sure with the special care you are
giving her that you have already thought of that. Is she completely
protected from any dogs or predators that might be nearby? It will take
some time for her to regain much of her agility, but it sounds like she is
doing remarkably well.
Thanks for keeping us updated. Sabrina sounds like a special girl.

She's able to go outside - but its on a screen in, covered porch (us
Floridians call them "lanai") Safe from animals and predators. And
always safe from the dog as the cat door is too small for the dog to
get through. :-)
SHe is not an "outside" cat at all - other than the lanai. SHe won't
even walk on the grass at all if we open the doors.

Oh, good! That sounds ideal.

You know, you just may be right....the problem of her having to carry extra
weight with one less leg just may be resolved by the situation itself.... :)

I thought today was going to be "one of those days" after a few things
not going to plan but hearing your good news and seeing the pictures
of Sabrina makes things better!

Well, as you mentioned, though they *did* get a bit carried away with the
shaving, what strikes me is how natural she looks, as if she's made some
adaption already. And from her behavior, and unwillingness to be babied, it
sounds like she is determined to continue to do so. And, despite the
ineligent haircut ;) , she looks quite sleek, doesn't look too overly chubby
to me, more just a big girl; must be a black cat thang, my boys are both big
guys. And at least it doesn't look like she has enough tummy to go flapping
from side to side when she runs like my Greebo's does, LOL! It's mostly
skin, he's really the right weight now, but it looks *so* silly.... :)~
Anyway, I'm glad she's home, and managing so well; things are looking very
hopeful, and I will continue to pray and send good thoughts that the problem
has been contained and she heals up completely and contentedly. Thanks for
sharing the pics and keeping us updated! :)
Hugs,
Ann

Hi.....
I just saw your post now....I had few terrible days here trying to save my
bunny's life...I"ll tell you later...
God I saw the pictures.....she looks so defenseless.....she's so
cute......remember,animals have a big sense of pride....that's one of the
reasons why she "insists"on doing everything with the minimum help......it's
fantastic news to see that she's at home, aren't you proud of yourself? You
made the right decision....you gave her the chance of her life...the
opportunity to share hers with you still for a LONG time......
I wish you both all the best.....and keep us posted....
