Sabrina's still mad at me. She's healing well, and gettign around
well, and she's been cuddling with me at night. But darnit all -
she keeps hiding under the bed and hopping away from me.
Yesterday I telecommuted from home so I could spend the day with her.
She stayed under the bed the entire time. I got worried and even
moved her food and water under there for her. I'd lay on the floor
and she'd come to the edge for me to pet her and scratch her, but she
wouldn't come out from her safety zone.
Then about 9pm last night BF comes in, sits on the bed and starts
talking to me. She immediately comes out from under the bed to see
him.
This morning again, she did the same thing with him, and even came to
visit him in the bathroom. But when I got out of the shower and went
to get her food bowl to feed her, she scooted back under the bed.
He's the nice one - who pets and loves her. I'm the mean one that
put her in the box to go to the vet and take her arm off. I'm the
mean one who has to pop the pills down her throat.
How long until she forgives me? I hate this.
And I have to take her back to the vet on Monday morning. BF won't
be around (as usual) to help me get her out, so I'll be the mean one
again that digs her out from under the bed and puts her in the box to
take to the mean ol vet.

:-( I'm sorry! It's awful having to be the bad guy, isn't it? On a more
positive note, I'm sure she'll get over it. Just give her time.

I really feel for you --I've been there too. Cats, however, are
usually very forgiving and the fact that she cuddles at night is good.
Maybe she just wants to be alone to sleep and recuperate quietly in
the datime. Losing a leg is a traumatic surgery and she will need
lots of time to get over it. Best wishes. MLB

I was thinking the same thing. I know it's hard, but hang in there, she'll
come around. The boys took a few days to get back to their cuddly and
non-sulky selves after being snipped, and Sabrina's situation is even more
traumatic (though I don't know if a boy kitty would see it that way).... ;)

But she comes out whenever BF is in the room and talking. If I'm
there, she won't come out. :{
And what's worse is - Monday morning I have to put her back into her
crate and take her back to the vet to have the staples and stitches
removed. More torture.

Just a thought: maybe this time you could wear some of your husband's
clothes??? Do you think this might divert all the blame from you?

Is that during the day as well? Either way, like I said, mine were sulky
after their surgery - 'course, we both took them, so sulky at both of us -
but got over it eventually. Sounds from your other post that she's on her
way to forgiving you now anyway. :)

Take heart, Sabrina's Mom, I'm sure she'll realise soon when her arm
starts to feel better that you and the nasty vet actually seem to have made
her feel
better she'll come around love, dont worry, it hurts for a while when they
seem to * go off* you, but give her time, hugs and purrs to you both jp
